GERT

American Modernist
As a child, young Gert painted on ceilings, wood, canvas. Gert's parents were not amused, but the young artist persevered. The artist took some art classes, which bored the young Gert, and then studied many of the styles by the masters and modern day artists. The artist has had several careers, some in the writing field, and comes from a family that has included a top expert in African Tribal Art, the owner of a high end frame shop for some of the world's leading artists, the owner of an art store in New York City, a primitive artist whose work was likened to Grandma Moses' style and accepted by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and hung in their New York residence, Martha Graham Dance Studio ballerina, and a noted violinist with Mostly Mozart in New York City. Gert is a typical outsider artist, creating personal styles, from boat scenes to confetti art. Today, Gert works primarily with on canvas. Gert's work has been collected coast to coast, from Palo Alto, Calif, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Collectors have said the work is inspirational, and makes them feel good. Like the famous artist Marc Chagall once said, "If a symbol should be discovered in a painting of mine, it was not my intention. It is a result I did not seek. It is something that may be found afterwards, and which can be interpreted according to taste."
Gert lives in Connecticut. Gert's exclusive agent is the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut.
